Here is my Amazon Affiliate list for products that I recommend for customizing, painting and sculpting! Using these links to purchase gives me a small amount in return for curating the information for you and doesn't affect the price at all. So rather than give everything to Amazon, you can help out a fellow artist!
These products are all ones I use and have tested out with my work. My tutorials and workshops use them and I hope you will really enjoy them!
Some links are to products directly on other pages and there is no commission or kickback for those for me.

An Atlas of Animal Anatomy for Artists
W. Ellenberger
My GO TO anatomy book! This has so much gold in it and won't break the bank. From the skeleton to muscles and a hair growth chart, it is filled with amazing references which can be copied and reversed for all your artistic needs.
I personally have two of these, one with the pages removed and kept beside my sculpting desk. If you can only buy one book, this would be the one I suggest.
Animal Painting and Anatomy
W. Frank Calderon
This has some beautiful insights into the head and joints that I haven't found in other books. Gorgeous drawings showing insightful angles like the inside of the foreleg and shoulder. Breaks down the muscles of the face in very easy steps and shows the anatomy of the ear and false nostril.
A must have for insights into the details that can make your work stand out!
Essentials of Clinical Anatomy of the Equine Locomotor System
Jean-Marie Denoix
A book full of dissection photos and very useful angles for sculpting. The intent of the photos is to show anatomy with cross sections, xrays, photos and different dissection layers.
Very good reference for legs, joints and understanding how all the layers of anatomy interact.
Modelling and Sculpting Animals
Edoward Lanteri
A great book that goes over anatomy, armatures, sculpting and molding sculpture, including horses. The mold making techniques are brush on and more geared towards bronze but still useful! A good cover all book.
The drawings of the leg from all angles are great for coloring to better understand the forms in 3D
Cyclopedia Atomicae
Gyorgy Feher
This has wonderful angles and movement diagrams that show how the muscles and bones work. Lots of information on the head and angles taht are hard to find of diffeent limbs and less static poses. Very handy! A must have in my opinion!
It is a hefty book with many species in it with some comparative anatomy.
The Empire of Equus
David P. Willoughby
This is the book with all the wonderful measurements and breed specific proportional charts. It has different breeds including zebras and tons of measuements from mares and stallions. It is a very cool book!
Look for used copies as it is out of print. Amazon sometimes has used ones available through other sellers.
Biomechanics and Physical Training of the Horse
Jean-Marie Denoix
A great book for understanding how muscles engage and which are active or relaxed in various poses. Uses a unique way of showing muscle lines over the skeleton to understand interactions and layering of muscles over bone.
Also shows placement of hooves and muscles from above in various poses for proper movement/posture.
Principles of Conformation Analysis
Deb Bennett PhD
A combined volume of Dr. Deb's three conformation books. It goes over a lot of conformational faults, postural issues and anatomy in general. Teaches you how to see these principles under the skin and how it will impact movement. Goes over false vs real collection as well.
